@ Michele Dutcher: I agree that an immediate ability to know something about someone before meeting them (using something like today’s social website profiles but much more integrated) would be common in such a time and place. But maybe that ability could be limited by the other party’s desire for degrees of privacy or anonymity? Or even by the traveler’s compatibility with the local angelnet? The latter seems a bit unlikely here, but I hope the former never seems so!

I was just wondering about the y/n option. We do that now with texting services. Seems to me something more advanced or simple could be happening in the far future. Perhaps, there could be nano-bodies you could “put yourself into” according to your sexual preference for the night. I can’t imagine getting a text and then meeting the sentient being immediately. There would probably be some way of looking each other over first, or a duel identity thing. Or, if you’re up for anything, put a twenty on your forehead and see where it leads.
